Our roof tents can generally be bolted to all roof racks or roof rack platforms from all manufacturers.

No. Our roof tents can generally be mounted on all vehicles on which a roof rack is fitted. It is important that the maximum roof load specified by the vehicle manufacturer is adhered to.

The ladder can hold up to 100 kg.

The included rain cover is waterproof, the fabric is breathable and the seams are sealed. So you can easily spend the night in our tents even in heavy rain. Roof tent fabric water column: 2000mm rain cover water column: 9000mm.

The annex room is splash-proof. It needs to be tied straight to avoid water accumulation.

The entrance can be on the side of the vehicle or at the rear. If the roof tent is to be folded out over the rear of the car, the mounting rails must be shortened manually (e.g. with a hacksaw).

Horntools offers three different roof rack models. These are exclusively roof rack platforms:

ExRoof: The ExRoof roof rack is our latest roof rack. It is made of aluminium and is characterised by its high rigidity and versatility. It is available for several vehicle models.

Navis: The Navis roof rack is both attractive and highly resilient thanks to its round tube design.

El Portador: This roof rack was specially developed for the Jimny GJ/HJ.

No, horntools uses the factory-fitted attachment points on the respective vehicle model.

Horntools offers vehicle-specific solutions for mounting the roof rack platforms. For most models, the original fixing points in the roof of the vehicle are used. In certain cases, clamping systems that are attached to the rain gutter of the roof are used. The roof rails of vehicles are not used for mounting in the current roof rack portfolio.

We only have vehicle-specific roof bars in our range, as these are fitted to the original attachment points.

The use of crossbars as roof racks is widespread and consists of two or more horizontal struts that run across the vehicle roof. Various types of loads such as roof boxes, bicycles, kayaks or skis can be securely fastened and transported on these horizontal struts.

Advantages:

Unlike traditional crossbar roof racks, which only have beams to hold items, a roof rack platform consists of a continuous platform, usually made of metal or plastic. Various items such as roof boxes, roof tents or camping equipment can be securely fastened and transported on this platform. They provide a stable base and can accommodate a variety of loads. They are a practical option for people who need extra storage space on their vehicle roof. Horntools only offers roof rack platforms.

Due to the wide variety of crossbar systems and roof rack platforms, we cannot explain every mounting option in detail, but will be happy to advise you individually if you have any questions.

The maximum permissible roof load can normally be found in the car handbook or can be obtained directly from the respective manufacturer.

No, the roof rack does not increase the roof load of a vehicle.

The roof load that the vehicle manufacturer refers to in the manual is the dynamic roof load. This is the permitted load that you are allowed to carry on the roof of your vehicle while travelling. For example, if you have specified a roof load of 80 kg for your vehicle, your roof tent + roof rack may weigh a maximum of 80 kg. The static roof load, on the other hand, indicates how much roof load is permitted when the vehicle is stationary. This is usually 3 to 4 times the dynamic roof load. This means that several people can sleep in the roof tent without any concerns.

The maximum load of a platform roof rack depends on several factors. The dynamic and static roof load must also be taken into account here. Also pay attention to the tare weight of the roof rack platform in order to adjust the static roof load accordingly. The general load capacity of the roof bars can be found in the respective product description.

In addition to roof racks, we also offer a wide range of accessories to make the most of the extra space on the vehicle roof.These include, for example, transport boxes, quick-release fasteners for roof tents, various Quick Fist holders for tools, tensioning straps, brackets and a rear ladder.

Synthetic ropes have been on the rise in recent years - and rightly so. The old fear that synthetic ropes would not withstand the load has long been a thing of the past. In principle, it can be assumed that plastic ropes and steel ropes with the same rope diameter can withstand approximately the same tensile force, and at first glance, the strengths of the plastic rope certainly lie in its weight - the rope is approx. 4.5 times lighter than a conventional steel rope. Furthermore, a synthetic rope cannot rust, has no protruding strands in the event of damage (risk of injury), does not whip so extremely when it breaks, has hardly any spring effect (the rope does not pull itself together when laid down) and damage to the rope is easier to recognise. However, synthetic ropes also have disadvantages: Plastic ropes are more sensitive in comparison and chafe more easily. Instead of rust, the rope is affected by UV radiation; it is also much more sensitive to heat, which can have a negative effect, especially when the rope drum is heated (continuous operation); the steel rope is generally more resistant than a plastic rope, but damage to the rope is more difficult to recognise (internal strand breaks). Corrosion is also an issue with steel ropes.

A radio remote control, i.e. a remote control for the cable winch without a cable, is a practical addition. Of course, all cable winches come with a remote control (with cable). However, the radio remote control allows you, for example, to operate the cable winch from the car or from further away. You will find various compatible radio remote controls for your cable winch in our range.

HPA3500, HPA4600 -> W002A all other winches either W002A (plugged into control box) or W002A-INT (internally connected to relay) pay attention to 12V or 24V.

There is only the cable remote control and no matching radio remote control as this winch does not have a relay.

We recommend a circuit breaker, which you can also buy in our shop (item number: H0100)

Remove the engine, possibly replace the coals, look at the drum brake, grease the gearbox, check the rope, evaluate the overall impression of the winch. You can have the winch maintenance done by one of our qualified retailers.

No, under no circumstances. Hoist winches are designed differently with regard to the safety factor and if used incorrectly, serious accidents can occur for which horntools is not liable.

Our cable winches are only designed for horizontal pulling, as occurs, for example, when recovering off-road vehicles. The maximum pulling force and the working load limit of the winch and the equipment used must be observed.

No, because the drum holder is part of the gearbox.

The winch has a mechanical brake.

An A23 battery is required.

A 9V block battery is required.

You can screw the horntools Straight awning either to the roof rack or directly to a roof tent.

If you already have a horntools roof tent, you can connect the awning directly to the tent - simply slide the L-brackets into the tent rails. The two L-brackets supplied are also compatible with different roof rack variants. If there are mounting rails on the roof rack, sliding bolts can be used to attach the awning. If there are no mounting rails, holes can be drilled at the outer ends of the roof bars and the L-brackets can be screwed into them. Detailed instructions can be found on the product page in the "FAQ & Download" section. The horntools ExRoof roof rack has its own awning bracket for the Straight awning.

The 180° or 270° version of the self-supporting Horizon awning is compatible with the ExRoof roof rack, but also with roof racks from other suppliers. A universal awning bracket is included in the scope of delivery and can be seen in the product images. The screws can be moved horizontally as required and adjusted to fit your roof rack perfectly. You can find a sketch of the universal awning bracket supplied here. Installation on roof racks with a T-slot, which are mounted on the roof rails, is also possible. However, the T-bolts for this type of roof rack are not included in the scope of delivery. If you want to mount the awning on a horntools ExRoof roof rack, we also have an ExRoof awning bracket in our range, which can be used to screw the awning to the side as well as from above.

No, the awning requires either a roof rack platform or a crossbar system for installation. horntools cannot comment on individual solutions without a roof rack system.

The Horizon awning can be used unsupported up to a wind speed of 30 km/h. With the support poles and guy rope, the maximum wind speed increases to 60 km/h. The Straight awning, on the other hand, can be assumed to be stable up to a wind speed of level 4. This corresponds to a moderate breeze of 20 to 28 km/h.

No, the UV protection is applied when the Herculiner has dried (as the last layer and only with the black Herculiner for rolling). With the other colors, the UV protection is already mixed into the color.

The Herculiner was applied at a temperature that was too cold or the cleaning agent was not removed enough during preparation.

Surface must be free of grease and roughened, apply in thin layers -> See instructions in the manual.
